Alexander Crispim to Fight Wednesday!

Hello Team,

As you know, Crispim’s fight at Cage Combat was cancelled at the last minute due to issues with his opponent which left him frustrated and disappointed.  He wanted to fight and give all of you who had supported him a great show and properly represent Crispim BJJ and the UFC gym.

Well… he got a call yesterday asking him to fight at the Tachi Palace Fights in Lemoore against Enoch Wilson.  Crispim took the fight!  He says that he is ready to go to battle!   GOOD LUCK CRISPIM!!!

Also, just a little note… we will be adding some pretty cool new features and abilities to the website.  Please watch for them over the next few weeks. :)

Alexander Crispim says “Thank You!”

Alexander Crispim would like to thank all of his family, students, training partners and coaches for all of the support that they have given to him during the past few months while he was preparing for the title fight at Cage Combat in Santa Rosa last night.

“As many of you know, my first two opponents were both injured prior to the fight and had to pull out of the fight due to their injuries.  I was given a third opponent two days prior to the fight and unfortunately, he too was unable to fight.  This is one of those examples in life where no matter how much preparation is in place for things to work well, things beyond our control can occur.

I was there ready and willing to fight and very disappointed for myself, my family and everyone who came out to support me that I did not have the opportunity to fight.  Cage Combat, in my opinion, did everything within their powers to minimize this type of thing from happening, but unfortunately, fighters/people make choices that can hurt and affect other people.  Cage Combat did make me the interim featherweight champion, but I will not feel like the champion until I actually have my day in the cage to prove my abilities and show that I deserve that title.  So… I will continue training, teaching and working hard so that when I am called to defend the title, I will be ready and will fight hard to represent all of you who have so faithfully represented our team.”

Thank you again to everyone and together… we will be ready for the next battle. Train hard and have fun!

Alex Crispim and Justin Hoglund are FIGHTING April 24th!

Both Crispim and Justin will be fighting at Cage Combat in Santa Rosa on April 24th.  Crispim will be the main event and will be fighting Andy Miranda.  We are still waiting to hear who Justin’s opponent is.   Crispim is very excited about this fight and proud to be fighting on the same card as Justin.

Everyone, please mark your calendars and we will have tickets for sale at the academy when it gets closer to the event.  Also, many of you are training hard for the upcoming jiu jitsu tournaments and to all of our students, please come to the Pleasanton academy as much as possible because all of our competitors, both MMA and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu need all of your incredible training.

We will post more details about this event as it becomes available.  Thanks for your support Team Crispim BJJ Barra Brothers.

Crispim opens Strikeforce with a win

By Steve Cofield

Alex Crispim, a second degree black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, showed a well-rounded game in wearing down A.J. Fonseca. Crispim won a unanimous decision, 30-27 on all three cards, in a featherweight fight to kick off Strikeforce at the H.P. Pavilion in San Jose.

Showing a great gas tank after taking the fight on just two weeks notice, Crispim (4-2) was able to get Fonseca on the deck in all three rounds. He worked chokes in each scenario.

The final round was his best. Although it wasn’t without a little controversy. Crispim had Fonseca pinned against the cage. Fonseca was in a vulnerable position when he took two big knees to the face and then dropped to his rear end. Crispim then threw an illegal knee. The fight was halted for 30 seconds but no point was deducted. Fonseca was worse for wear with what looked like a broken nose.

Fonseca was out of gas and hurt. He got worked over on the ground in the final 90 seconds. Crispim worked an omoplata then transition to what looked like an armbar and then closed the fight trying for a heel hook.

Fonseca fights out of Sacramento and Urijah Faber’s camp.
