Crispim BJJ is Having a Party!

The Crispim BJJ Team will have its Belt Promotions on Saturday, July 31st. We will also be celebrating the 1 Year Anniversary of Crispim BJJ with a BBQ, good friends and training partners and a lot of fun. The Team Picture will be taken that day, and we hope that all BJJ, boxing, fitness and MMA students will be there.

We will not have any classes on this day and the schedule will be:

11:00 am Belt Promotions

12:30 pm Team Picture

1:00 pm BBQ/Potluck

We would like to thank Aash and Carlos for agreeing to help with the BBQ, especially because we always hear about their BBQ skills. I think we are in for a good meal. Also, please bring your favorite side dish, snack/appetizer or dessert to the BBQ. Thanks for making this a wonderful year and we look forward to celebrating the new belt promotions and anniversary with the team.

Crispim BJJ will be at the 1st Wednesday in Pleasanton

Crispim BJJ will be at the 1st Wednesday Street Fair in Downtown Pleasanton on Wednesday, July 7th. Come by our booth and watch some demonstrations, learn about our academy and programs (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Boxing, MMA, and Fitness) and meet our instructors, Alexander Crispim and Daniel Elias. It will be a lot of fun!!

Also, we will be having our 1st Anniversary and Belt Promotions BBQ Party on Saturday, July 31st at the academy. As we get closer, we will post more information about the days festivities, but… you can expect great food, lots of friends and family, and a team picture. We hope everyone will be there.

Hi Crispim BJJ Barra Brothers Team:

Here is the latest news:

* You will notice that we have A LOT of new faces around the academy in fitness, boxing and jiu jitsu. Please introduce yourselves to them and make them all feel welcome.

* A big THANK YOU to Daniel Elias for being such a huge part of the academy and the team. The academy would not be so successful without Daniel. He is an incredible instructor, a loyal team member and a true friend. His presence, training and teaching is helping Crispim out while he moves into the last 4 weeks of training before his fight. We couldn’t do this all without you Daniel!!

* Congratulations to Josh McDonald for getting a fight with Cage Combat on April 24th, the same card as Crispim. It is going to be a GOOD NIGHT!

* We have a lot of team members competing in the Pan Ams. Good luck to all of you. Training has been great!

* We now have MMA sparring on Tuesdays and Fridays from 12-2. If you are interested in coming, please talk to Crispim.

* Thank you to Crosley Gracie for his help in training Crispim for his upcoming fight. Your presence at the academy has been a huge motivator for Crispim and our team and the training has been phenomenal.

* RevGear has completed hand making our heavy bags and grappling dummies. We will be picking all of those up on our way back from the Pan Ams. Watch for the new equipment mid-April.

* Remember to place your orders for the RevGear boxing and MMA packages. The leather boxing gloves come in black, red and pink. We place orders every Monday.

* The academy will be closed for the Pan Ams from Thursday, April 8th through Sunday, April 11th. We will be open for training as usual on Monday, April 12th.

* If you would like to get Crispim BJJ T-shirts for the Pan Ams, please order them as soon as possible. We need a few days to place any orders if we don’t have your size in stock.

* Our FIRST YEAR ANNIVERSARY and BELT PROMOTION BBQ will be on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at the academy in Pleasanton. Please make sure you write this date on your calendar. We will have more details as it gets closer, but we want to make sure that as many of our team as possible can be present for our team picture that day. This includes the whole team- fitness, boxing and jiu jitsu. Oh yeah… I understand that we have some serious BBQers on the team so hopefully we will be able to enlist their skills for the BBQ that day.

The Latest News at Crispim BJJ in Pleasanton

First, Alexander Crispim would like to thank everyone at the academy for the incredible training. It is truly amazing how much improvement everyone is having AND the level of energy and committment at the academy is phenomenal.

As many of you know, we are one of the ONLY BJJ academies in the area (if not the only one) who offers Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes 7 days per week. Crispim feels it very important to teach these classes on Sundays because many of our students and prospective students have busy lives and unique work schedules. Crispim wants to ensure that everyone gets in the amount of training they would like each and every week. Today’s class was full with both white belts and upper belts. It is so exciting to see the programs at Crispim BJJ grow like this and we are very fortunate to work with such a great team. For those of you who did not know that you can train on Sundays… come check out the classes. Every Sunday 9-10am Fundamentals Class and 10-11am Advanced Class.

Also, Crispim BJJ is excited to have our first Free Law Enforcement Seminar for any local Bay Area officers on March 20th from 1-3pm. If you know of any law enforcement men or women who may benefit from this, please have them contact Crispim at 925-468-0330 or email us at info@CrispimBJJ.com for more details. We have flyers at the academy. Our current law enforcement students are also invited and encouraged to attend.

There are still some spaces left for the Rodrigo Gracie Seminar on Sunday, March 14th. Please call or email us to reserve your space. Cost is $65 for students and $75 for non-students. You don’t want to miss this seminar from this world recognized Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioner and MMA champion.

In an effort to keep interesting and constantly changing information on our website, we are currently working on several articles and are asking for comments from our students. If you can provide info on any of the following topics, please email them to info@CrispimBJJ.com:

Alex Crispim and Justin Hoglund are FIGHTING April 24th!

Both Crispim and Justin will be fighting at Cage Combat in Santa Rosa on April 24th. Crispim will be the main event and will be fighting Andy Miranda. We are still waiting to hear who Justin’s opponent is. Crispim is very excited about this fight and proud to be fighting on the same card as Justin.

Everyone, please mark your calendars and we will have tickets for sale at the academy when it gets closer to the event. Also, many of you are training hard for the upcoming jiu jitsu tournaments and to all of our students, please come to the Pleasanton academy as much as possible because all of our competitors, both MMA and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu need all of your incredible training.

Crispim BJJ is Proud to Announce a Rodrigo Gracie Seminar in Pleasanton

Crispim BJJ Barra Brothers in Pleasanton is excited to be hosting a seminar for Rodrigo Gracie on March 14th, 2010 from 1:00-3:00pm. The seminar will focus on both gi and no-gi.

Rodrigo Gracie is the son of Reylson Gracie and grandson of one of the founders of Gracie Jiu Jitsu, Carlos Gracie. Rodrigo has a long list of accomplishments including Pride 19 and 24 champion, Pride Bushido 1 and 2 Champion, Abu Dhabi Champion, K-1 Hero’s Champion and author of several Martial Arts books.

You do not want to miss this opportunity to train with this highly experienced and decorated Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt and MMA competitor and learn some of the latest techniques in the grappling world.

We just found out that we will also have a special guest and well respected competitor and teacher, Crosley Gracie, at the seminar. Crosley also has a very accomplished record in both Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and MMA. He also owns and teaches at his academy in Brentwood.

A New Purple Belt at Crispim BJJ Barra Brothers

Alexander Crispim and the Crispim BJJ Barra Brothers Team is proud to announce that today, Manuel Ruiz was awarded his well deserved purple belt. Manuel became a student and friend of Crispim’s in 2004 in Dublin and always displayed a tremendous passion and drive. Although Manuel continued training Muay Thai over the years, he did take a break from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for several years. Since Crispim has opened the academy in Pleasanton, Manuel has made his way back to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and has re-joined the Crispim BJJ Barra Brothers Team. Manuel has trained very hard and has come back to BJJ with an intense energy to compete, progress and learn. He is truly an example for our academy and we are very proud to have him back on the Crispim BJJ Barra Brothers Team, both in jiu jitsu and in MMA. Congratulations Manuel! You deserve this!

Boxing and MMA Programs Growing at Crispim BJJ in Pleasanton

As I’m sure you have all noticed, the boxing and MMA classes at Crispim BJJ Barra Brothers in Pleasanton are growing like crazy. Daniel’s boxing classes are packed and the feedback is phenomenal. In addition, we have teammates who are training for fights and they are loving Josh McDonald’s classes. Because of this incredible growth, we have an exciting new partnership to announce…

We are proud to have developed a new partnership with Revgear. We will be selling Revgear and Bad Boy equipment and clothing. In addition, we will be bringing in Revgear heavy bags and throwing dummies to further enhance our boxing and MMA classes. They should be arriving at the academy within the next two weeks.

In addition, we will be offering two different high quality training packages to our current students:

Boxing Package 1: Revgear leather boxing gloves, Revgear wraps, jump rope and a bag to carry all of this in

MMA Package 2: Revgear duffle bag, MMA gloves, wraps, mouth piece & case, and shin guards

We will be offering a promotional price for all of our current students for the next 2 weeks. If you would like to check out the packages, we have samples at the academy. Revgear’s turnaround time is quick and we can get a lot of the products within 2 days. We will be placing orders every Monday.

In closing, we would like to thank all of the students and instructors for their incredible support of the academy. In the 6 months we have been open, we have experienced absolutely phenomenal growth and are proud to be part of a truly talented and great team of people. Without all of you, Crispim BJJ Barra Brothers would not exist.

Cyrillo and Romulo Visit Crispim BJJ

Alexander Crispim and Crispim BJJ Barra Brothers would like to thank Cyrillo Padilha and Romulo Melo for coming to our Pleasanton academy yesterday to help Crispim train for his fight at Strikeforce on Saturday, December 19th. Cyrillo is a Luta Livre Black Belt (a well-known No-Gi Martial Arts in Brazil) and Romulo is a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from the Royler Gracie Academy. Both of these incredible competitors are from the Fairtex Camp and are both professional MMA Fighters. It was an honor having them at Crispim BJJ Barra Brothers in Pleasanton and we welcome them to come train anytime.
